Anydrop Inc. ("Anydrop," "we," "us," or "our") takes the protection of your personal information seriously and is committed to safeguarding your privacy in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services, whether through our website, mobile application, or other platforms (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue the use of our Service immediately.

1. Accountability

Anydrop has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation. For any privacy-related inquiries or complaints, please contact:

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that is necessary for the purposes identified below. The types of data we collect include:

2.1 Personal Information

  • Contact Details: Name, email address, phone number, and physical address.
  • Payment Information: Payment card details (such as credit or debit card numbers), billing address, and payment history. Payment card data is tokenized and processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). Only the last four digits and card type are stored on our servers for display purposes; full card numbers are never stored.
  • Account Information: Username, password (stored in hashed form), and security credentials.
  • Identification Documents: Driver's license, passport, or other legal documents for identity verification purposes (for drivers and users). Identity verification is conducted through Stripe Identity, which may include selfie-based verification. Re-verification may be required periodically (approximately every 6 months) to maintain account standing.
  • Demographic Information: Date of birth, gender, language preferences, and other demographic information.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device Information: Device model, manufacturer, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, push notification tokens, and app version. This information is collected to deliver push notifications and for crash reporting via Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Service, such as the pages you visit, the time and duration of your visit, and any search queries.
  • Cookies and Tracking Data: Small files stored on your device that help us collect data on user activity and preferences. This includes session cookies, analytics cookies, and tracking pixels.

2.3 Location Data

If you enable location services, we collect precise GPS location information to provide real-time delivery tracking, auto-fill pickup and drop-off addresses, show nearby drivers, and enable turn-by-turn navigation for drivers. Location updates are transmitted in real time via secure WebSocket connections during active deliveries. Background location data is collected only during active deliveries to ensure continuous live tracking for senders and recipients. Location data is not collected when no delivery is in progress.

2.4 Biometric Data

If you enable biometric authentication (Face ID, fingerprint), your biometric credentials are stored exclusively on your device using platform-encrypted storage (iOS Keychain or Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). Anydrop does not transmit, store, or have access to your biometric data on our servers.

3. Consent

Under PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25, we collect, use, and disclose your personal information only with your knowledge and consent, except where permitted or required by law.

3.1 Types of Consent

  • Express Consent: We obtain your explicit consent for the collection and use of sensitive personal information, such as identification documents, payment information, and precise location data.
  • Implied Consent: In certain circumstances, your consent may be implied, such as when you voluntarily provide personal information for an obvious purpose (e.g., providing your address for delivery services).

3.2 Withdrawing Consent

You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@anydrop.ca or by adjusting your account settings. We will inform you of the implications of withdrawing consent, which may include the inability to provide certain services. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

4. How We Use Your Information (Purposes)

We limit the collection and use of personal information to purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances:

4.1 Service Delivery

  • Account Creation and Management: To create and maintain your account, verify your identity, and process transactions.
  • Delivery Services: To enable you to post or accept deliveries, including real-time tracking, pickup, and drop-off information.
  • Payments: To process payments securely through our third-party payment processor (Stripe).
  • Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, resolve issues, and provide technical support.

4.2 Improvement and Analytics

  • Service Improvement: To monitor the usage of the Service, improve user experience, and develop new features.
  • Data Analytics: To analyze trends and measure the performance of the Service, we may use aggregated and anonymized data to better understand user behavior and improve our offerings.

4.3 Marketing and Communications

  • Marketing Campaigns: Only if you have opted-in, we may use your email or other contact information to send you promotional offers, newsletters, or updates about new services and features. You may opt out at any time.
  • Transactional Communications: We may send you transactional emails or notifications related to your account activity, such as order confirmations, payment receipts, or changes to the Service.

4.4 Legal Compliance and Safety

  • Regulatory Requirements: To comply with applicable Canadian federal and provincial laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
  • Fraud Prevention: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activities. When an account is deleted, we retain cryptographically hashed (SHA-256) identifiers (such as hashed phone number and email) in a fraud prevention record to prevent re-registration by previously banned users. These hashed records cannot be reversed to reveal your original personal information.
  • Safety: To protect the safety of our users, drivers, and the public.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience on our platform and to deliver personalized content. You have the option to opt out of non-essential cookies by adjusting your browser settings, but this may limit some functionalities of the Service.

5.1 Types of Cookies We Use

  • Session Cookies: Temporary cookies that expire once you close your browser. Essential for the functioning of the website.
  • Persistent Cookies: Remain on your device until they expire or are deleted. They help us remember your preferences and settings.
  • Analytics Cookies: Used to analyze user behavior and gather performance data to improve the Service.
  • Advertising Cookies: Used to show you targeted advertisements based on your browsing habits. You may opt out of these through your browser settings.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We will not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

6.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our business, such as:

  • Payment Processors (Stripe): To handle payments securely.
  • Identity Verification (Stripe Identity): To verify the identity of drivers and users through document and selfie-based verification.
  • Cloud Hosting and Media Storage (Cloudinary): To securely store and serve user-uploaded images such as profile photos and delivery proof images.
  • Mapping Services (Google Maps): To provide location-based services and navigation.
  • Firebase (Google): For push notifications and crash reporting.
  • Marketing Partners: To assist with delivering advertisements, promotions, or analytics.

These third parties are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use your information to perform specific tasks on our behalf. We ensure that any third-party service provider located outside of Canada provides a comparable level of protection for your personal information.

6.2 Delivery Participants

When you use our Service, certain information (such as your name, phone number, and delivery address) is shared with the driver or sender involved in the transaction to facilitate the delivery.

6.3 Legal Compliance

We may disclose your information to law enforcement agencies, regulatory authorities, or other third parties in response to legal requests such as subpoenas, court orders, or when required by Canadian law.

6.4 Business Transactions

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred to the new entity as part of the business transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Your Privacy Rights Under PIPEDA and Law 25

As a user in Canada, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

7.1 Right to Access

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you and obtain a copy of it.

7.2 Right to Rectification

You have the right to request corrections of any inaccuracies or incomplete information in your personal data.

7.3 Right to Deletion (De-indexing)

You can request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain conditions (e.g., when required to fulfill a contract, or if retention is required by law).

7.4 Right to Withdraw Consent

You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

7.5 Right to Data Portability

Under Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format, or to have it transferred to another organization. You can export your personal data directly from the mobile app (Settings > Privacy & Data > Export My Data) in JSON format at any time.

7.6 Right to Object to Automated Decision-Making

You have the right to be informed of any automated decision-making processes applied to your personal information and to request a review by a human.

Response Time: We will respond to access and correction requests within 30 days as required by PIPEDA. If additional time is needed, we will notify you.

Filing a Complaint: If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at www.priv.gc.ca or, for Quebec residents, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) at www.cai.gouv.qc.ca.

To exercise these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer at info@anydrop.ca.

8. Data Security (Safeguards)

We are committed to ensuring the security of your personal data through physical, organizational, and technological safeguards, including:

  • Encryption: We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) to protect data in transit. Sensitive data such as payment card details are encrypted at rest using strong encryption (Fernet symmetric encryption). Authentication tokens and sensitive credentials on your device are stored in platform-encrypted storage (iOS Keychain, Android EncryptedSharedPreferences).
  • Access Control: Access to personal information is restricted through role-based access controls (RBAC). Within our administrative systems, personally identifiable information (PII) is masked by default (e.g., phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, and license numbers are partially obscured). Only authorized super-administrators may reveal full PII, and every such access is logged in an audit trail that records who accessed what information, when, and for what purpose.
  • Regular Audits: We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks. All administrative actions are recorded in activity logs for accountability.
  • Secure Authentication: We support biometric authentication (Face ID, fingerprint) and password-protected access to user accounts. Session tokens are managed securely and can be remotely invalidated.

While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, please note that no security measures are entirely foolproof. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

9. Breach Notification

In accordance with PIPEDA's mandatory breach notification requirements and Quebec's Law 25, if a breach of security safeguards occurs involving your personal information and creates a real risk of significant harm, we will:

  • Notify you as soon as feasible about the breach and the steps we are taking.
  • Report the breach to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and/or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as applicable.
  • Maintain a record of all breaches of security safeguards.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Account Information: Retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal information (name, email, phone number) is anonymized immediately — your name is replaced with a generic identifier, your email is removed, and your phone number is replaced with a non-identifiable placeholder.
  • Delivery Records: Retained for 3 years after the delivery date for dispute resolution and legal compliance. Delivery records associated with deleted accounts are preserved in anonymized form.
  • Payment Records: Retained for 7 years as required by Canadian tax laws. Payment card details are deleted upon account closure; transaction records are retained in anonymized form.
  • Location Data: Active delivery location data is retained for 90 days after delivery completion for support and dispute resolution purposes.
  • Identity Verification Documents: Managed by Stripe Identity. Retained while your account is active and deleted upon account closure. Photos uploaded to our platform (such as profile images) are permanently deleted from our cloud storage (Cloudinary) upon account deletion.
  • Fraud Prevention Records: Cryptographically hashed identifiers (SHA-256) are retained for 7 years after account deletion to prevent fraud and protect the safety of our community. These records cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Ratings and Reviews: Anonymized ratings and order history may be retained after account deletion for platform integrity and quality assurance purposes. These are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Account Deletion Process

You may request account deletion directly within the mobile app (Settings > Privacy & Data > Delete Account). Deletion requires password confirmation and cannot proceed while you have active orders or an outstanding wallet balance. Upon deletion, your active subscriptions are cancelled, authentication tokens are invalidated, and your personal information is anonymized as described above.

11. Third-Party Websites and Services

Our Service may contain links to external websites or services operated by third parties. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party websites. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any external websites you visit.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information is primarily stored and processed in Canada. If your information is transferred to, stored, or processed outside of Canada, we ensure that adequate protection measures are in place, including contractual obligations that provide a comparable level of protection as required by PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25.

13. Children's Privacy

Anydrop does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by placing a prominent notice on our website and in our mobile application. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised.
